FINKE RIVER:
Travelling north via the Flinders Ranges we head for the vast expanse of Lake Eyre. We track the route of the old Ghan to Oodnadatta on our way to Dalhousie Hot Springs. On the edge of the Simpson Desert, this artesian spring system is an oasis for wildlife and humans alike.
Further north, we walk among the fascinating rock formations of Watarrka (Kings Canyon), before heading into the upper reaches of the Finke River to explore Palm Valley. We get a birds eye view of the Finkes catchment area when reaching the top of Mt. Sonder in the West MacDonnell Ranges.
